Splatterhouse - Retro Gameplay

With so much splatter and gore, Namco's horror-film infused beat 'em up was one of the most 'mature'/violent games of the 80s. In our struggle to save the kidnapped Jennifer from horrifying creatures (wrong decision), and by wearing a magical mask as a power-up, we had to punch, kick and bat our way through the titular Splatterhouse, which naturally splashes innards across the environment with what were, for the time, pretty shocking visual effects. We play the first two levels of the TurboGraphx-16 version - probably the best port of the arcade game - where you had to hit "Run" instead of "Start". Oh, and either we're terrible at it, or it was really hard and unforgiving. Or a splatter of both...
